Goodwill Outlets In South Carolina

There are a total of 3 Goodwill Outlets, or Goodwill Bins, located in South Carolina.

The Goodwill Outlet located in Columbia was recently re-located to North Columbia, a few miles away, where it continues to offer pay-by-the-pound merchandise for sale.

For new Goodwill Bins shoppers, these thrift stores operate differently than your typical Goodwill thrift shop. It’s much more unorganized and unsorted, as there are dozens of large blue bins piled with merchandise, including clothes, electronics, toys, and more. The greatest part of this format is that everything is charged by the pound, which gives you the chance to find designer clothes and other expensive items for cheap.

But with more re-sellers and vintage collectors than ever before, make sure to come prepared early in the morning with a set of gloves and a large shopping bag, as the Goodwill carts may go quickly. And based on the Goodwill outlet you’re shopping at, shoving between highly competitive shoppers is normal and to be expected.

If you don’t find anything on your first visit, remember that there are new bins full of items that are rotated every single day. With consistency and a little luck, you’ll be sharpening your thrifting skills and striking gold in no time. Goodluck.

Not your typical shop!! The CLEARANCE CENTER has tables piled with random clothing, others piled with housewares, and some with books. These are all sold by the pound. I love it because if you have time to look, you're going to get amazing deals!! If you're not this adventurous or don't have the time, head NEXT DOOR to the regular Goodwill store.

My review is in regards to the outlet store on Rivers. I visited the store on a Monday morning, drove in from out of town for it. There was a good selection of items, I really expected it to be cleaner than my local Goodwill Outlet, no such luck. Overall, it was worth the trip. Watch out for other shoppers though, they're insane! After rolling new bins out everyone crowded around and literally just started grabbing handfuls of clothes and shoes, throwing them into their carts..I was nearly taken out by a pair of rogue Steve Maden wedges...I can only imagine how many quality items were damaged in the chaos of it all. The employees weren't the most friendly either, but with shoppers like the ones I encountered, I can understand why. A poor employee had to break up an argument between two shoppers while I was there. Apparently it wasn't the first time as the employee mentioned that he didn't know what their problem was but they needed to get themselves in check as he was tired of their drama. "Yall are the only two I have problems with here!"

You have to pick through bins here. Nothing is really separated. The cost is $1.19 per pound. There are a group of people who hang out here all day and they get aggressive when new bins are rolled out. They even bring small children with them and leave them sleeping in strollers in the corner! Very neglectful!

This is an interesting goodwill. Not only do you have the retail store but you also have the clearance center and the computer center. In the clearance center it is buy it by the pound. Surprisugly you can actually find some decent stuff at the clearance side of the store.

The outlet store that was attached was horrible. Most outlet stores have bins on wheels that are rotated out with new selections a few times a day. In this outlet, the bins are stationary. In fact, many of the bins were actually large boxes, so there would be no way of moving them in and out on a regular basis. New donations just seemed to be tossed on top of old items. There were only a few clothing bins. There were a bunch of shoe bins/boxes that were filled up to two or three feet deep with shoes. Finding a matching pair would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I used to love going to the outlet in Pittsburgh. I am beyond disappointed that this will not be a place I can shop. It was dirty and the staff in that section was unfriendly. Goodwill should be ashamed that they are accepting perfectly good donations and then destroying them by throwing them haphazardly into bins. It is disheartening to know that my donations might end up as landfill rather than actually helping others.

BINS BINS BINS! Get there earlyyyyyyyy, stand in line if u have to! The possibilities of finding designer clothing, shoes and other items like purses & hardback books--in perfect condition --are VERY likely. And when you get bored of doing that go look through the electronics because it's the same over there. It is crowded and be on your best etiquette as far as not diving into a bin that is already being looked through. Make sure to disinfect your hands when you leave though LOL

This GoodWill OUTLET is absolutely disgusting. Shoes that look as if they had been taken out of the trash. Broken toys and glass found through the household item bins. Torn and stained clothing piled above your head (I am 5’6”). No bins available for use and high prices compared to other locations we have visited. Do not recommend and will not return.

The attached Goodwill Outlet— you either LOVE IT (like me) or absolutely loathe it. Tons of bins with clothing, housewares, books— unsorted. They’re vaguely arranged but no real organization. Personally it’s my favorite store ever. I find treasures every single time. If you’re doing a quick thrift trip, don’t recommend for you. People can easily spend 30 minutes to 2 hours here. And if you’re lucky— they’ll bring out the fresh bins when you’re in the store. TREASURE HUNTING HEAVEN.

It’s a Buy-The-Pound format rather than actual GoodWill store. Avoid if you’d rather search neat racks and shelves over digging through bins of the remains of what got donated but never sold.

I am sharing my experience at several Midland Goodwills in the Columbia SC area. I shop at good will at least 3 to 4 times a week. I am a collector. It has been my experience however, that several of the items I’ve purchase are found to be damaged when I get them home. The reason I don’t always notice the damage at the store, is because they are taped up with packing tape, so tightly that its hard to tell that there is damage under the tape till you take it off. Also, often the tape damages the item in the process of of removing it. Ive had several gold inlayed items become damaged when the tape pulls the gold inlay off off the item. It’s quite heart breaking to purchase a beautiful vintage piece, only to get it home and find it damaged. With as much money as you, as a corporation, invest in thousands of rolls of packing tape, I would think you could use that money to train your employees how to handle fragile items with care and shelf them together as sets, neatly. After all, you are training them for jobs in retail, are you not? They wouldn’t last long in any other retail situation, if they carelessly toss things on shelves instead of putting them out in a decent retail manner. Your packing tape method is a nightmare! On the upside, I do love to hunt for treasures and that is why i frequent you stores. I’ve found some great things. Also I appreciate that I can bring an item back if it is damaged, as long as I have a receipt. Thank you for that. On a side note, you might not have so many returns if the items were handled with more care. I hope these things are taken into consideration.
