Goodwill Outlets In Alabama

Goodwill Outlets, AKA Goodwill bins, are a perfect place for thrifters, treasure hunters, and re-sellers. There are currently 2 Goodwill Outlet locations in Alabama, located in Birmingham and Mobile, that sell items by the pound.

Make sure to bring gloves, because Goodwill bins are much more unorganized and messy compared to your typical Goodwill thrift store. Imagine large blue bins that are jam-packed and full of an assortment of items ranging from clothes, electronics, toys, and more.

Arrive at the bins expecting to stay for a couple of hours, look through everything and you may just leave with a bag full of treasures.

I give this one 3 stars because, most of the bins are usually clothes. Which is not what I'm in the market for, but if you are this is the place to go. I always come out with something, and love the bins, this one just isn't my favorite.

They don’t rotate bins regularly, just let the same ones sit for hours

Most of the workers are courteous and helpful. I've seen a few racist moments when a white customer took some items out of a black customer's shopping cart in the outlet. Thankfully the issue was resolved but the situation left a bad impression on me. Other than that, this is a good place to shop for cheap used merchandise.

First off, everything is unsorted which means you can find some gross stuff. Soiled underwear, fluids, and just generally gross stuff. For example I found a leather whip there, being that I'd recommend wearing gloves and using hand sanitizer after each visit. Putting aside the gross you can also find some really good stuff there.. For example, I found air pods! It all just depends on what they bring out. They change the bins every 30 minutes or so. The only thing I don't like is sometimes they'll bring out all clothes or all decorations and not an even selection of different stuff. Oh, also one employee in particular is pretty rude to customers. I believe her name is Martha?

The employees rotated the bins regularly as appropriate. Mostly books vhs tapes and shoes. I found some good items but the customers where shopping very aggressively and running not following social distancing and groups of people just grabbing everything and not giving other shoppers a chance. Would have been more pleasant if store regulated aggressive shopping

The smallest bins I’ve ever been too. And cost the most. 1.79 per pound. Most of the items were heavy like books and random furniture. Minimal amount of clothes when I went, most were stinky. Not a whole lot to shift through. Lots of toys. the cashier was nice tho!

Nastiest Goodwill ever. Smells worse than the mix of beer and urine on bourbon street. You can smell the stench of trash as soon as you walk through the door. The employees are rude and obnoxious. If they think you have anything valuable they either will overcharge you or make an excuse to bring it to the back area to do more research. There are regulars who practically live at the store waiting around for the bins to be distributed who are good friends with the employees.
