Goodwill Outlets In Virginia

There are a total of 5 Goodwill Outlets, or Goodwill Bins, scattered across Virginia.

If you’re someone who loves to hunt for hidden gems and enjoys the thrill of sifting through piles of unsorted merchandise, then a visit to a Goodwill Outlet is a must. The main difference here is that everything you find is priced by weight and tossed into large, unorganized blue bins. Unlike traditional Goodwill stores, this setup offers a less structured but more adventurous shopping experience where unexpected treasures can be uncovered.

This setup naturally attracts a diverse crowd, including savvy re-sellers and flippers who frequent these outlets in search of items they can resell online at a profit.

If this shopping adventure piques your interest, here are a few pointers:

Arrive early in the morning with gloves and a spacious shopping bag, as the bins tend to be picked over quickly. Depending on the specific Goodwill location, expect some level of competitive shuffling and jostling among shoppers.

Alternatively, if you prefer a quieter browsing experience, consider visiting a few hours after the store opens to avoid the initial rush.

Remember, new bins filled with fresh merchandise are rotated throughout the day, offering new opportunities with each visit. Consistency and a bit of luck can go a long way in honing your thrifting skills and uncovering valuable finds. Best of luck on your treasure hunt!

Ah "the bins" as they are called in most re-seller groups. My first visit to this location. They don't like you taking photos or video so be discreet. Was told photos not allowed by staff. Separate electronics area that's priced more like a regular Goodwill. What's the point of that? Prices are way too high in this area. Everything is priced mid-eBay selling prices. No flipping items from here. The regular bins however not bad. I found plenty of junk for $14 I can use or sell. I am primarily a re-seller but I also buy and have found plenty of items for my personal use as well. I love the treasure hunt and if you do you probably already know all about it. This location however is kinda hidden in the back of what I always thought was just the Goodwill office building. For years I never knew this was even back here. You have to go around the building to the back! Check out the photos. Hit the thumbs up button for this review please! 👍👍👍👍

It is not what it used to be : ( It's very over crowded and it doesn't matter if you go on a weekend or week day. Trying to get anything good is nearly impossible... People will now snatch things out of bins and not allow workers to pull or bring anything out and once they are finally able the bins are swarmed so fast they have nothing left. If you don't mind shoving your way through other people shoving their way through you will be ok. If you have anxiety and breathing issues this may not be for you. The staff upfront is very friendly but you can tell that the way some of the customers act is rough on them. They do not have a restroom in the facility but they do provide a porta potty if you're brave . The electronic section is located in the back and they actually do have some great items computers and t.v.s which they will test. I will say everything is priced reasonably. This section is separate from the bins and you pay in the back of the warehouse. Clothes,toys, bags are weighed Shoes are now $3.50 each

I seriously been trying to rate this location…. But it is just going down weekly. The “regulars” are absolutely terrible. It is like a zoo. They push and move bins and just act like they own this place. Another issue is amount of little kids running around. Sooo many little kids and they are all over the place. Kids of all ages are everywhere, sometimes feels like it is a daycare or something and the worst part is no one is watching these kids. They are just running free and employees have to constantly scream for parents. Only two people at this location can calm “regulars” down. Thank God for the manager of this location. If she is out on the floor the craziness calms down a little. Someone please get this location under some kind of control.

Love the goodwill auction.. great finds.. gotta listen closely though... he do talk fast. But always watch your stuff outside.. lost a few good items because someone decided to go through one of my basket sitting outside next to my trailer. There is also a goodwill store at this location where they take the over flow from stores. You can purchase at a better price than the stores. Clothes I believe are still by the pound.. one small well kept secret.. but you didn't hear it from me.

This is the largest and most organized Goodwill I have ever seen~ Although I was only dropping off items after a move I was greeted, given a cart to unload items and simply handed the cart over to some kind smiling faces~ I plan to explore the store in the large facility!

I love coming here! The prices can’t be beat! I always come to the outlet section. Which is right to the left if when you first come in go past the bathrooms. The outlet has a wide assortment of items from books, clothes, household items pretty much anything in a thrift store is here. It looks to be items that did not sell in a timely manner but lots of good stuff can be found here. I’m a eBay reseller, been a power seller for about five years and I always make it a point to come at least once a month. I used to have to drive an hour and half to get here but well worth the long drive. I spend about twenty bucks and get an entire cart load of stuff for resale and family. It can be a bit of a mad house, grab it and growl when the staff bring in new cart loads of stuff. You have to be fast, and people act like wild animals to go after the new items available. I highly recommend this place, great prices and location. The outlet is in the same building as the main goodwill store and I’ve found good stuff in there too.

This review is for the outlet location- There’s no signs for anything really regarding price, or the checkout process. Shoes are all prices different and the cashier makes up the prices her self. She made me empty my cart and gave a separate price for almost everything. One pair of sandals $1, another $3, reusable tote bags $3.50!!!!! Each!!! For a tote I can get for $1 in store. I accidentally put an eyeglass cover in the bin to be weighed and she freaked out over it saying clothes only. I’ve been to so many outlet locations, they usually weigh every thing in the cart for one flat price. Why was everything here priced horribly? I put back half of my cart!

This place is amazing for us hardcore thrifters!!!! They have a warehouse floor full of bins of clothing, textiles, shoes, home goods and so much more that are pay by the pound!! I got over 30 pieces of clothing and a pair of fur boots for 25 bucks 😜 Some of the stuff is hit or miss but totally worth it if you are confident in your sizes or need a place to get cheap clothes for your family or community. If you love a good deal, make sure you have plenty of time because they care constantly bringing out more stuff throughout the day. There is also a more formal store front for clothing, furniture and computers where they sell their more high end items for more money. I would definitely recommend wearing gloves and washing your items before wearing as some of the items arent the cleanest. Overall, i love this place and it has some.of the best, cheapest, name brand styles of anywhere in the 7 cities! Happy shopping 🛍

2 in 1 shop for second hand clothing. You can go to the outlet to buy in bulk or you can go to the regular store in 1 place. You can also donate all your electronics to computer store.

Bins are ok, but too many resellers. Regular side is rather higher than that of Thrift store USA. The customer service is above and beyond friendly.

Super excited we finally have an outlet in VB! Clean and well organized. Hopefully it stays that way too. Staff was friendly also. Got lots of goodies and only spent $35. 😊

Love it! So much fun! Edit: after shopping weekly for the last few months, the atmosphere seems to get worse with each visit. We've seen or had at least one altercation each visit lately. It's getting beyond ridiculous. If you aren't being hassled by a nutty customer, you will be by a nuttier employee. And if you are lucky you might shop through one bin without it being snatched from under you by an employee or getting elbowed. Bad management or bad policies?? Do better. If it's on the floor it should be for sale. Literally had an employee take items out of my cart today because they were apparently taken from a forbidden bin. No signs or labels or anyone to inform the bin was forbidden. Just sitting in the middle of the store with every other bin. No one said a word while i was shopping it. But 5 minutes later stop me and take my items from my cart....absolutely bizarre. Never seen anything like it before.

All employees are friendly and Restrooms are surprisingly cleaner than I expected. BUT, it’s just way too darn hot & stuffy inside. Went there more than 5 times and it’s always smelly and stuffy as hell. I understand it’s a thrift store outlet but it’s almost inhumane to stay there to digging stuff up even just for 15min in such hot summer weather🥵

@Wjp
The store is very organized and clean compared to other bins locations I’ve been in. The employees are extremely friendly and welcoming also. It’s much smaller then Hampton which is something to keep in mind. The only downfall with this location is they no longer rotate the clothing bins during the day or at least before 3:00. You can go one day and then the next only to find the same clothes so It’s possible they either push out everything for the week on Monday or put new clothes on top of the old piles each day. They rotate housewares and shoes normally once a day but if you talk to the regulars they will usually say “I saw these same shoes the other day/week” which I have experienced myself. Seems they put the new on top of the old hoping to cycle them out. If you live within 20 minutes of here I’d say it’s worth it to pop by in hopes you find some gems. They’re low on inventory which is why they do what they do but I appreciate the great items I have found.

The “digging bins” is a great place to find decorations for your home, electronics, shoes, clothing, bed linens, hats, books, you name it. There’s usually a line at the entrance before it opens. Some people sell on eBay and Amazon and want to find the best items It’s a neat place
Mom
@MomMomMom
The outlet store is my go to. Highly recommended. Picked up $175 worth of New Halloween stuff with tags still on for $9. You can also find sewing patterns for extremely cheap because it’s based on pounds. I found vintage sewing patterns in excellent condition here some weren’t even used. It’s all about continuously coming back and checking through all bins. I do recommend you bring gloves to search through some of the bins.

I have been coming here for a few years. Yes Great Deals etc but the clients some of them try to size each other up. It’s a pity that I round up, pick up broken glass in bins, gave even gifts to a couple workers bc I know it’s not a picnic to work there with all the drama. Lots of great deals yes but be ready for pesky drama and the new co manager needs to stop talking down to people, telling you to pick up every item that hits the floor by mistake. That’s part of the workers job. I have to clean up the floors where I have worked, why can’t she? Sure a few fights here that can be laughable but very irritating to a paying customer that helps the Goodwill mission so to speak. People talk about each other under their breath make racist comments about black white, Hispanic, Indian etc. Enter at your own risk. People also steal and take stuff out of each other’s carts. A shame that the bigger picture can’t be seen that if you are in the store you obviously are in need of some of the items they provide at lower by the pound prices. I did call your Corporate office, you bet I did bc I’m not going to be intimated by people saying they are willing to fight you like been on the streets bc the aisles are cluttered. Been to Staunton, Richmond, Greensboro, Baltimore and even Hollywood Goodwill outlets not as much drama and well frankly that bathroom is just disgusting.

Super cheap shopping sold by weight. Pickings are usually pretty slim however especially electronics. I have on occasion gotten lucky and found some great buys. Be prepared to dig, move items, and untangle huge tangled masses of cords to find the deals. Bring rubber/latex disposable gloves for the digging or your hands will take a beating. A unique shopping experience not for everyone.

we stumbled across this outlet by chance (never new goodwill had an outlet before) and fell in love, will be making many more trips to salem just to shop here. all the staff i dealt with was very friendly. if you have never been to a goodwill outlet, its different then the regular goodwill, everything is in bins and sold by the pounds. its dirtier and unorganized then the other stores but thats the nature of it. take your time and search through you wont be disappointed, I got some really nice high end brands that was in great shape for next to nothing.

Loved the staff at the Goodwill Outlet/the bins, they were very nice and helpful. I got some good clothing and shoes to resell at a very cheap price (I think clothes are about $1.50 per pound.) However, I have to say it was very dark and dingy and hard to accurately examine clothing because the lighting was bad. There was also a lot of dust 🤧 which made me cough. But I love Goodwill and you really can't beat the price. If you are sensitive to dust, maybe wear a face mask. I would also come early in the day because by the afternoon the best items are picked over by the professional resellers.
Waterfalls
@WaterfallsWellness
Staff is great, probably need more of them though. Complaint is about customers. There should be a 1 cart per customer rule and people either need to not bring their kids, or keep them by their side. Two people jammed up registers by pushing 4-6 carts overflowing with items. I have no issue with great deals, we are all there for the same purpose. However, one person taking all the shoes or another buying all the toys and then preventing other customers from being able to move because their carts are parked all over the place, then lining up so many carts that the line is now wrapped around by the bins so again, customers can't shop, is ridiculous.

There’s the Goodwill Outlet and a Goodwill Store at this address. The outlet sells things by the pound. There are large bins (see photos) that you dig through. It is sort of organized by the bin. Lots of digging for treasures. I found two totes that cost me $3.30 total. The Goodwill store looks like a department store. Very organized and great prices. Very friendly staff. I purchased a gorgeous cabinet for $31. Two gentlemen loaded it for me. There’s a large parking lot but it was packed. I had to drive around to find a space. Both stores were very busy.

I have been at Goodwill Outlets in over a dozen states and have been to this one several times. It is the worst Goodwill outlet I have ever been to. I looked several places and the only sign I saw for DVD pricing was $15 a cart on Sundays. Imagine my surprise that on Mondays DVDs are $1 each. Nope. Left them there. DVDs are even old media now, too.
Matt
@MattW
It’s just the outlet now, the “normal” store is now e-commerce pickup. Be prepared to dig, but it’s one of the best place to find deals.
